& European markets opened lower as investors focus on the next U.S. Federal Reserve meeting that begins
Tuesday.
Stocks in the Asia-Pacific
mostly fell as shares of Adani Group remained volatile
after the conglomerate rebutted short seller firm Hindenburg’s accusations of
embezzlement and fraud.
Gold prices inched
higher as the U.S. dollar eased.
Oil prices climbed in
early Asia trade, supported by tensions in the Middle East
following a drone attack in Iran.
In corporate news, consumer goods giant Unilever said it has appointed Hein
Schumacher as its new chief executive officer.
Hein is currently CEO of the global dairy and nutrition business Royal FrieslandCampina and
became a non-executive director of Unilever in October last year. He will begin
as Unilever CEO on 1 July 2023, after a one-month handover period.
